Interactive walls and tourism - some examples

New commercial and technical approaches made to the tourism services supports the development of immersive and pervasive services. Interactive surfaces and walls play an important role on providing new experiences to the users. For example, the Interactive Cape town wall projection creates a walk-through interactive brochure of the city, by allowing the user to navigate between animated panoramic views of Cape Town, accessing information about attractions and activities in the respective area.
 

Also, The Canadian Tourism Commission has launched an interactive mural where content from Twitter from and about Canada is being displayed. Passengers can interact with experiences that are being posted in real time.

Mesht/ Pervasive Tourism | ABOUT

On this blog you’ll find information about the Mesht project, financially supported by QREN/FEDER, with participation of the cetac.media research center, ubiwhere and IEETA.


> MAIN GOAL

This project is sought to develop the following technological solutions for the Tourism sector:
A Mobile Travel Guide (for mobile devices) based in context (namely, in location and preferences of each tourist);
- A Tourist Card (for automatic tourist identification), which will enable the creation of tourist profiles (with the production of statistics and reports) for use as input in the definition of a region Touristic Strategy;
An Enriching Tourist Experience solution, based in interactive surfaces;
A Multimedia Museum Guide (that can be extended to other business opportunities, such as conferences or other entities), with automatic recognition for visitors and items in exposition.
